February's Challenge: No C's

Well, it's finally almost here. February! Does anyone else feel like January just CREPT by? Not sure if it's because it was sort of slow at work, or because it was so freaking freezing, or potentially because I spent every waking second at the gym, but this was a tough January! I'm thankful it's over and one month closer to spring!

Well, I hope everyone has been enjoying the daily workouts! Only 4 more days and you're done! Don't you feel awesome! I know I do! I really feel like I accomplished something, and I love bragging about it. But I love bragging about everything and anything, so not sure if that really means anything. But I do feel great, and honestly want to see how long I can keep this up, or at the bare minimum, reduce the number of times I don't workout, especially on the weekends, and especially since I stopped running.

Ok, on to February since I know you're waiting with bated breath. February is a nutrition goal, so we are going to go with "No C's." What are C's you may ask? Well, I will tell you. C's are: Cookies, Cakes, Chocolate, Candy, iCe Cream, and Circles (i.e. pies). That's right. Straight up, none of those. NONE.

I will allow one "cheat." During Valentine's weekend, you may have ONE of the above ONE time during that Friday through Sunday. Then that's it, done. I'm not expecting that I'll have any over that weekend, but I know a lot of you might have a sweetie that might buy you some chocolate, and I want you to enjoy it. But then, you're done, back to the strict limitation.

I know this is going to be IMMENSELY hard for me. As Susan put it, it's going to be straight up brutal. I love love love candies and cakes and treats of all kind. But that's the very reason why it's a perfect goal. I can never say no, and once I have one, I totally binge, and that is not healthy for anyone. This month's goal will require a LOT of self control! But I know if I have you all's support, I can do it!

So, what do you all think about this month's challenge!!! Are you game? Do you think it'll be easy? (BTW, who are these people that don't like sweets? I just want to punch them in the face everytime I hear someone say "oh, sweets just don't tempt me." Jerks!) Do you think it'll be brutal? What's the verdict folks?

Love to all in February! Be well!

  1. So don't hate me but I'm a I don't like sweets people. I just don't crave them. I'm perfectly content to walk away from birthday cake, ice cream (especially ice cream - 90% taste disgusting), chocolate, etc. I will say I wasn't allowed to really have that stuff (especially chocolate) growing up so maybe that's why although my sister has a total sweet tooth so maybe not...I do love desserts with fruit though like strawberry shortcake but even that I have like once a year when strawberries are in season. So I like Feb challenge although I did buy everything to make a cheesecake for book club - thanks for telling me now!!!

  2. Uh oh!! Homemade cheesecake sounds unbelievably freaking delicious! But no! None for me!!

And yes, I do hate you for being that type! :) And here's why even more. because I wasn't allowed to have that growing up either, so instead of being like you (take it or leave it), I went the exact opposite and totally rebelled and years of and years of forbidden pleasure bubbled up into the uncontrollable urge to eat as much candy and chocolate as possible!

And please, strawberry shortcake, that's practically the equivalent of a rice cake, it has so few calories! ;)

  3. I can save it and not make it. I did buy this kit to make salsa (yum) and I got cheese and crackers so that's semi-healthy. I was going to buy grapes but they were like ridiculously $3 a lb and last time I just picked them up thinking grapes weigh like what maybe a pound it ended up being $10...

My sister is like you - total sweet tooth now. So it's weird how it works out. My biggest thing is I don't buy it. Or if I crave something like white chocolate lindt truffles (a little piece of heaven) I have one and put the rest away. But if you can't stop at one don't buy it then you have to really want it to go out and buy it. When you think about getting back in the car for a twix bar you're like ehhh f it.

I'm glad Strawberry shortcake is actually semi-healthy though. :)

I did read something about a study they did - maybe you can google it and find it - and it has something to do with how people's tastebuds are developed what they crave. This other article in prevention (I think?) said don't be fooled into thinking b/c the cake is labeled fat free or healthy its good for you - that a lot of people end up eating way more that way and its not that good for you.

  4. i for some reason am not getting the updates in my email so i forgot to read feb. challenge. we could have it, so don't know my excuse for chocolate. however over the snow weekend, i made reduced guilt chocolate brownies with peppermint pieces. i finished the last bit yesterday, so technically i only messed up two days, but maybe i can buy flowers for myself when i'm feeling a craving... oh and in comment to the above re: portion size, that is one thing that I am good at and fairly consistent, so that is how a small pan of brownies lasted 5 days with two days beng snowed in. we'll see how everything goes for the rest; short month so that helps!

  5. Ok ok. I will excuse the chocolate in this case! ;) You lucked out honey child!

I like the flowers idea when you want a craving! Like that A LOT! It'll really make the house look pretty and no calories!

And you are waaaay better than me. I am TOTALLY impressed that pan of brownies lasted 5 days! WITH being snowed in!! Haha! I would have snarfed it down in seconds flat! So, you should be very proud of yourself!

    And yes! Short month!!
